Camping in Oregon with a Toddler

We were warned. My dad told us not to go camping with a toddler. But we didn’t listen. We went camping anyways. And while we had fun, afterwards, we needed a HOLIDAY - so what did we do, we went on a road trip - with a toddler. YEP we are crazy, but honestly, we had the best two weeks, saw some of our very favourite people, played in the sand, drank lots of tea, and took in the sights. Then we went home and slept for days. Or something like that.

So where did we go? What did we do? First stop Oregon Coast…. well the first stop was off the 1-5 after Jason drove over a tire and partially ripped some metal sheet off the bottom of our car. Google told us it would take 6hrs and 45 mins to get to Barview Jetty Park…. google lied. We new some time would be added with a toddler on board but it was 10 plus hours before we arrived in the dark and the pouring rain with a toddler who was scared of the tent. We begrudgingly let him sleep with us and of course when you sleep with a bed hog toddler on an old air mattress with a tall husband there is not a lot of sleeping room or comfort. We woke up to wind and rain, thankful for a tarp overhead our very holey tent. We spent the day at the Bayview Jetty Beach and drove into Rockaway for a delicious coffee break. We napped and drank tea and sat around the fire. It sounds so relaxing doesn’t it? Well except for teaching our toddler to stay away from the fire pit and to stop running out of the campsite. Except for that. :D The following day we had sunshine. Glorious sunshine, so we packed up and drove to Cannon Beach, toured around, went for lunch and explored the big rock formations. It was a great day! Enroute home the next day we stopped at Rockaway Beach and got some great family photos. Just don’t zoom in because Jason is blinking! I loved the photo too much to ditch it. So now we have a blinking family photo. Welcome to parenthood :) oregoncoast-3.jpg oregoncoast-7.jpg oregoncoast-9.jpg oregoncoast-11.jpg oregoncoast-12.jpg oregoncoast-13.jpg oregoncoast-14.jpg oregoncoast-16.jpg oregoncoast-18.jpg oregoncoast-20.jpg oregoncoast-22.jpg oregoncoast-23.jpg oregoncoast-25.jpg oregoncoast-27.jpg oregoncoast-28.jpg

A Nanoose Bay Beach Wedding || Andrea and Jay

Andrea and Jay have a beautiful love, an electric chemistry. Their wedding day was perfectly them. Down to earth, relaxed and stress free, ending with a swim in the ocean, drinks with their dearest friends and family, and of course a Harley ride, or two. 2014-09-03_0001.jpg 2014-09-03_0002.jpg

Andrea grew up going to this beach, this cottage. She spent weekends here as a teen and then as an adult. It was her dream to be married in this place, that held so many precious memories. Her grandparents owned it at one time and now it’s a family property shared amongst her mom’s siblings. When Jay proposed they didn’t have to search venues. All they needed was a tent in case of rain. But the weather was on their side. It was a beautiful sunny day that Saturday, with the perfect amount of cloud cover to make the ceremony light perfect.

The moment she started down the isle with her arm linked in her dad’s took my breath away, it was hard to maintain composure as I fought to fight back my tears of joy. Andrea’s dad worked hard to be able walk her down the isle. After over a decade of suffering from Parkinson’s, his ability to do so was difficult, but as the months and weeks led up to Andrea and Jay’s big day, he worked with a trainer so he could have the joy of walking his only daughter down the isle.

Congratulations, Andrea and Jay. Thank you so much for inviting me to be a part of your day. To celebrate with you. You two, are beautiful.

A Sunny Day in San Fransisco || Fine Art Prints

My husband and I have spent a lot of time traveling since we married in 2011. It’s our favourite thing to do together. We love to explore with our cameras, eat local foods and sit in cafe’s drinking fine coffee. The experience of a new city is always exhilerating. This was our second trip to San Fransico. It was fast. Just a day enroute to a conference in San Jose, but it was a great day. It was March and here at home March was miserable, but in San Fran it was warm and sunny. Here is a collection of the sights we saw. All images are for sale. Travel: Our Rainy Day in Paris

For those who know me well, you know I've spent many years day dreaming of Paris. Last March my husband, Jason and I took a trip to Ukraine (more on that to come in a later post) and decided to extend our layover and organized it so our stopover was Paris. From the moment we stepped off the plane I was exhilarated. We caught a few hours sleep in our airport hotel and then we were off. It was a brisk Paris day as we meandered transit and checked maps. Our first destination to be a gluten free cafe that have rave reviews. It took a little longer to get to this cafe than we hoped with our limited french and confusion about street signs, But every yummy bite and delicious sip made it worth it, not to mention the romance of simply being in Paris with my love. paris, eiffel tower, helmut newcake, cafe le notre dame, rainy day, travel, sherri preston, sherri preston photography, sherri preston blog, blog, umbrella, coffee, bakery, sunset, view, paris france,

After, we took the train to more touristy areas. The sun was slowly going down and the rain was falling and oh the light was magnificent. We basically danced (in excitement and glee at the sights) along the Seine towards the Eiffel Tower. Our cameras clicked and clicked drinking it all in. A quick stop in the Notre Dome - wow. And then off to the Eiffel Tower.
